Solarbuddy Team Experience Celebrates 10-Year Anniversary

KDM is proud to be the UK’s sole provider of SolarBuddy - a hands-on, purpose-led team building experience that delivers measurable impact. Founded in 2016, SolarBuddy is a global charity dedicated to tackling energy poverty in communities around the world through innovative, sustainable solutions.

Delivered in partnership with SolarBuddy and led by KDM Event Managers, this inspiring experience invites guests to assemble solar-powered lights for children living in some of the world’s most energy-impoverished regions, including Cambodia, Tanzania and Papua New Guinea. Each light becomes a beacon of opportunity, enabling children to study safely after dark, avoid the dangers of kerosene fumes and dream bigger for their futures. The concept is simple yet powerful: empower teams, illuminate lives and change the world, one light at a time.

The session begins with a powerful and eye-opening presentation that brings the reality of energy poverty into sharp focus. Teams then unpack their kits and work together to build SolarBuddy lights, before writing heartfelt letters to accompany each one, personal messages of encouragement and hope. The experience goes far beyond traditional team building, connecting participants to a meaningful cause, to one another and to a child thousands of miles away whose future may be transformed by something as simple as light. There is also an added layer of impact: every bucket of SolarBuddy materials includes a tap system that transforms the container into a life-saving water solution.
