Wild Izakaya Restaurant by Wild Group Is Now Open
Introducing Wild Izakaya, a new Japanese restaurant by Wild Group, just opened in the heart of the City of London, on Old Jewry.
"I travelled to Tokyo with Ilya and experienced the real izakaya. We already had the location with a completely different concept in mind, but after that trip it all clicked – something we felt was missing in the City of London. Shortly after, we met chef Satoru, who had also wanted to bring authentic izakaya dining to London for a long time. The
energy of the City and Tokyo – a perfect match. And with the interior details, we wanted to bring that Tokyo vibe."
– George Bukhov-Weinstein, Co-Founder of Wild Group
The dining experience is brought entirely by Japanese chefs, led by Executive Chef Satoru Hashimoto.
With a focus on top-quality ingredients, expect the most traditional of Japanese cooking – nigiri, sashimi, maki and temaki, a selection of skewers from the robata, classic deep-fried dishes – chicken karaage, agedashi tofu and of course, gohan (Japanese rice) cooked in a cast iron pot with a choice of prawn, Wagyu or mushrooms. Everything is prepared in the open kitchen, where guests can watch the chefs at work from the counter seats. The space itself draws on the atmosphere of a traditional izakaya, with a projector screening classic Japanese films.
The food is matched by a wide range of Japanese boozy delights with over 8 Japanese beers, Japanese-inspired cocktails – the Muscat Pisco Sour and Plum Manhattan being the favourites – and a plenty of sake and wine.
Wild Izakaya is open Monday to Friday, lunch and dinner with options for counter, private and group dining.
