The DMC Collective’s Pulse Survey: Evolving Roles of Executive and Personal Assistants in the Hybrid Workplace
)
The roles of Executive Assistants, Personal Assistants, Virtual Assistants, and Office Managers are evolving rapidly. Faced with increasing workloads, tighter budgets, and the need to adapt to new technologies and hybrid work environments, these professionals are rethinking how they operate.
A survey of 3,700 professionals worldwide, conducted by The DMC Collective, reveals the key challenges they face. Among respondents, 60% reported concerns over workload and burnout, 55% highlighted a need for more training to keep up with technological advances, and 60% said shorter lead times are creating major obstacles in event planning.
As Susan Vanhuston, co-founder of Events and More Ltd, the parent company of The DMC Collective, notes: “Our industry is at a turning point. Executive travel and in-person events are making a strong return, but we’re also navigating tighter budgets, shorter timelines, and the integration of new technologies. While AI brings efficiency, the human touch remains essential, making it crucial to blend innovation with personalised service.”
The industry is also seeing a shift toward sustainable event planning and executive travel. Destinations like Lake Tegernsee in Germany and Bodø in Norway reflect the trend toward eco-friendly events, offering unique venues that blend natural beauty with modern amenities.
Navigating this evolving landscape will require a balance of embracing AI while maintaining the personal touch that defines effective support.
